SIMON JAMES BRUNTON
19th July 1982 - 18th April 1998
Simon is, by far, the bravest person we have known, he continues to have an effect on
the lives of the people he touched and will live on in the hearts of those who love him.
Reading through these pages you will soon come to
realise that Simon made a lasting impression on many people, including some he had not even met.
Knowing what Simon has been through often inspires people to be more positive about their
own lives and more optimistic about overcoming their own troubles.
Throughout his life Simon had a wisdom beyond his years, he always put other people's needs and
feelings before his own, even when faced with the knowledge that he was dying.
He disliked it immensely if he witnessed any arguments or unfairness and would always try to step in to smooth things over.
He hated the thought of any person being unhappy and if he could do anything to change things for them he would.
The Prayer of St Francis has always inspired us, but after Simon passed away it held new
meaning for us because it seemed to reflect Simon's philosophy on life.

Those words seem to sum up the very essence of
Simon's spirit and the way he spread his light and love to everyone he met.
The most beautiful rendition of that prayer we have ever heard is sung by Sinaed O'Connor,
the Irish Singer/Actress, it's so very moving! It was one of the pieces of music played at Simon's funeral.
Later you will read just what a very special service that was.
It was definitely a celebration of his life and not solely an occasion to mourn his passing.

You will find out how Simon's courage, determination and
wonderfully whacky sense of humour helped us to endure his two year battle against cancer,
including six months of living on a hospital ward and dealing with the prospect of having to re-learn even the most simplest of tasks.
Tasks which most of us take for granted.
Enjoy your visit to our pages, there's bound to be a tear or two, so make sure you have a good supply of tissues.
